I’m pretty sure the point was “I’m mad at my sister and need to rag on everything she does”, not color theory.
They can see fifty shades of gray.
It varies by person, on average women can often discern shades of a given color slightly better (sometimes theorized to have developed to distinguish similar, but slightly different fruits and plants), but this isn’t ironclad. I’ve done vision tests for instance that show I can discern shades about as well as women, and while rare color blind women exist for instance.
The reason that men, on average, don’t care about such things is very much more related to culture then it is anything biological.
Wait, she confused Pink with Coral? So much for that theory.
Pretty sure women can see more shades of colors than men.
If you put two close colors side by side, I’m sure anyone can tell the different, assuming they know the general terms (“burgandy is a darker red” for example)
The point however that RIG’s article makes is that if you only give them only the one sample to look at, most men will fall towards the broad color name (red) while females will be able to differential on hue.
Oh, that’s bullshit. Anyone who’s the least artistically inclined could differentiate between hues of colors just fine.
Well it’s not really a knowledge thing in most cases I think. I can discern that there are different shades of red easily enough, but ask me my opinion on one verses another in many context and my response is liable to be something of the effect of “it’s just fucking red”.
It’s not that I can’t see a difference it’s that I really don’t care about said difference.
As someone that’s a novice seamstress, as well as a house painter (and also an art painter) - no. There are many different shades of red.
The fact there isn’t that much Project Runway-based images is a disappoint, given how much fashion ends up in this show.
but is real…
i tested it with my cousin, she saw different tones of red where i just saw fucking red…
Oh that’s just silly.
