Different wavelenghts and power. And wifi frequencies are usually very crowded, as they are unlicensed. (Even microvawe ovens jam your wifi, because their microwaves have the same frequency as wifi: 2,4 GHz.) Newer wifi standards can use 5 GHz and usually it’s less crowded.
A tower prolly have stronger waves while a wifi router has weaker waves.
I think that’s how it works, but I’m not sure coz I slept thru my networking classes.
What is it with cell phones that can communicate with a tower ten miles away, but can barely pick up your wi-fi in the next room?
