With PT it would have been better to mix in jokes about her misdeeds. I think we could have got some mileage out of the phrase THAT MONEY WAS RESTING IN MY ACCOUNT! But no, go for the low hanging fruit and feed her.
Im aware the Mandopony thing started with one guy calling him a pedo and mado overeacting, but I wouldn’t call that throwing punches. Mando didn’t “throw punches” until a whole bunch of channers decided “hey calling someone a pedophile is hillarious!”
And not ALL the Anita death and rape threats were, but almost all of them. It was 4chan’s idea to do it for the “lulz” because countering someone’s argument is too much like hardwork.
You’re putting a lot of blame on 4chan for things that don’t even seem to be their fault. forcing ponies into everything? That’s one of the things /mlp/ seems to hate the most in the fandom. And I’m pretty sure the reason they call Tinker and Mando those names is to push specific buttons on them. Everyone knows the crap Tinker did, but since we’re talking about a place known for being full of trolling, what would you expect them to call PT? I know there are some trans people in the fandom they like and respect for the most part. And if I remember right there was just one guy who made one comment about Mandopony being a pedophile and was ignored, but Mando threw a fit and started throwing the punches at 4chan first, so /mlp/ just calls him that now ins response and to upset him.
And the rape and death threats are all 4chan? Really? You’re just going to assume that? I think there’s a lot you don’t understand about 4chan. It’s a fairly big place.

And I wonder about this, is this cultural influence any good? It seems to be the part that tries to put ponies into EVERYTHING and gang rushes videos, forums, games, etc with ponies, giving haters a reason for hating, and they often seem to do the stupidest things when someone attacks a fandom.
I mean lets see: posting Pinkiepony’s personal information, thus increasing her victmin complex, rather than showing her fans the child porn she drew and exposed her sister to(before her crusade Molestia porn doesnt show up when you search Celestia, unless you turn the filter off so you can find porn).
Calling Purple Tinker transphobic words rather than calling her out on being a lying thief, again letting her play the same victmin games.
Calling Yamino transgender words and mindlessly flaming her rather than drawing attention to the fact she was muting disabled people who spoke up for derpy and had a web comic that was far more offensive. If chan hadn’t stepped up, I can’t help but feel these 3 dramas would have gone much better.) Yamino’s white knights would have looked like hypocritical idiots were it not for chan.
Also calling Mandopony a pedophile “because its funny” makes me think we’d be better off without any culture they have to give us.

Pretty much, but that’s still cultural influence. I never said their importance was for a good reason ;)

Except you said they had NO effect, which is quite false. They have a huge influence over key bits of Internet culture.
Are they anywhere NEAR as important as they think they are, or as relevant as the once were? No, not even close, but it’s foolish to say the are of no importance.

Otherwise if /mlp and 4chan were blasted off the internet, the only thing people would notice is less memes, less whining and less faux badasses. Or maybe we would only notice a slower flow of memes.

That made me laugh because 4Chan are the one who overplay their own maymay in the first place.
