Well he did seems to figure out that there were faking pretty quickly,and I always assumed that he couldn’t do the chores they gave him well since he’s more used to tedious task like arranging books and scrolls or various literacy duties and lite house cleaning(thought admittedly he did act like a complete ditz with those chores applejack gave him )And if you believe the theory of some guy on the internet ,spikes dragon code was an attempt by him to distance himself from the vicious ,greedy ,thuggish behavior of most of his dragon kin as he witnessed when he went on the dragon migration and his own personal greed spurt.So in theory he made a code that would express his civility and selflessness along with proving to himself that he is not greedy,if you believe the theory than this episode is filled with fridge brilliance and because of that is one of my favorites.

Spike At Your Service was a good episode in my opinion…Well, except for Spike, but everything else was superb. {Though it’s saying something about how the main six view Spike, what with their ‘plan’ to fool him and all. It banked on Spike being a moron…which he pretty much was in that episode.}

Personal opinion time!  
-Crystal Empire, Too Many Pinkie Pies, Magic Duel, Sleepless in Ponyville, and Magical Mystery Cure were all great  
-One Bad Apple, Wonderbolts Academy, Apple Family Reunion and Keep Calm and Flutter On were alright  
-Just for Sidekicks was completely forgettable  
-Spike at your Service and Games Ponies Play sucked.
