Description

(Note from OP: I cannot agree with him enough here. XD)

Let me start off by apologizing. I mean it, I’m very sorry. This is absolutely not a professional approach to the situation. I really am more composed and mature than this (for what that’s worth), and I absolutely hope no one takes this personally. This violent result of petty anger may very well ruin my image forever, but I feel someone needs to say it.
That said, this all is coming from me, and me alone. I speak for no one.

Understand? Good. Now for the fun part.

I am so sick of seeing this shit.

The show is fun and cute. It teaches lessons about friendship. THAT’S THE SHOW. WELCOME TO IT. WHAT THE FUCK ELSE ARE YOU EXPECTING? WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT?

I can only IMAGINE how sick the team that MAKES the show are… Oh wait, I DO know.

I’m friends with a few artists/animators of the show (not dropping names or numbers). I talk to them lots. They tell me about what they read on the Internet about their work. THIS is how fucking sick some of it them are. I don’t wanna speak on anybody’s behalf, but this basically sums up how they feel about you. They love what they do, but a few of them FUCKING HATE YOU. Oh my god they’re tired of hearing your bullshit.

And so am I!

You don’t know better than the writers. You don’t know better than ANY of the makers.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is an exceptionally great feel-good cartoon. Lots of people like it, but some more than others. Some of us LOVE it, and appreciate what the team does to bring it to us. Honestly and genuinely. They do a TREMENDOUS job, and it makes me ANGRY how people spit in their faces.

All of you, just shut up. Holy crap, just shut up. You suck. You’re an idiot. Get out.

AND THIS IS JUST HOW I FEEL ABOUT THE ‘PREDICTED THE ENDING’ BULLSHIT.
DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE OTHER FUCKING BULLFUCK THE FANDOM DOES.

“Why, Red? Why then do you stay and deal with this nonsense?”

Simple. I love the show. I love the brony community. I love contributing to it. It makes me feel good. There aren’t enough people supporting the show, and appreciating the team that makes it for us. I am OBLIGATED to stay and uselessly combat idiots, jerks, sexists, and trolls on the Internet because if I don’t speak up, who will? Who else is going to speak loudly enough, and in ways people will listen?

Anyways, I separate the “FANDOM” and the “BRONY COMMUNITY” into two separate things.

The brony community is amazing for a thousand-and-ten reasons. I support and encourage it, and I wholeheartedly devote myself to it, and all it stands for.
The MLP FiM fandom is a stupid rotten quivering sore, oozing disgusting smelly pus. I hate and reject it in ways that defy mere description.

I guess… that’s it. I’ve got it all out on the table. Fire away guys, fire away!

I personally think that you’ve mixed up the brony community and the MLP fandom.

In essence, being a “Brony” is less about appreciating the show and contributing to the community than it is about identity and turning it into some sort of political/philosophical lifestyle; more often than not, the self-proclaimed “Bronies” have more interest in being a brony than they do for the show itself. They’re the ones that spout the kinds of “opinions” that OP is bemoaning.

This isn’t to say that ALL “Bronies” are that way, but chances are that the ones that aren’t are just using the term to refer to being a fan, rather than to refer to the lifestyle that it’s become. It’s sort of like what happened to the furry fandom, where being a furry now means more than just liking funny animals.

@Dashu
on principle, i see how this could be someone’s major complain whit fans. plus isnt it all ‘opinion’ aniways?.

and wouldnt he be “thick-skined” if his pet peeve was the more basic one and everything else is just random shit for him? at least thats what i got from the description.

agree on that second paragraph, then again, gotta vent out every now and then.

Of all the things that could make you dislike the fandom, it’s this? You must be so thin-skinned that every single bone is visible.

And this “picture”… Well, some may actually think that the correct response to obnoxious asshole is to be an even more obnoxious and bigger asshole. I don’t agree with that.

Holy crap could you possibly blow this any further out of proportion? She doesn’t even appear until past the 15 minute mark (way past the halfway point) and I don’t think she even has a full minute of screen time.

You know what can really be considered “pandering”? Discord.
He was meant to be a one-time villain, he ended up being a regular to the show thanks to his great success. That’s bending the story to the will of the fandom.

But you know, sometimes agreeing with the fandom is a good thing. Discord adds quite a bit of spice to the story and makes things never given for granted. And he’s remarkably voiced by an excellent actor.

I really enjoyed today’s episode, it was very funny and well played.

I saw it as a Rainbow Dash episode. I like Derpy too, I see that as a win-win. Also I was there when the last roundup aired, I still say it as an Applejack episode. The cart scene was hilarious.

Hell, I’ve been watching since before swarm of the century and I got to say, they do stuff like this alot. It’s part of the show, so if you don’t like it no one is forcing you to watch.

The staff love the show, they love the culture and the brony community. Which is why we got a shout-out in the equestria-girls parody commercial as early as the end of season one.

And if twitter is any judge, I don’t think negativity of the fandom does them any good. You can be critical about something without being as asshole. The way I see it, this artist is right. though I don’t think being an asshole back is called for. Still I agree with him.

@Lefty643
Pandering is more like bending the story to the will of the fandom. That was nothing like that. Derpy didn’t race, we haven’t even seen her practice. Her place could have been taken by any other pegasus. What’s wrong if the authors used Derpy instead, so we could see a recognizable and funny character?

The story and the moral is intact, so what’s the “suffering” you’re talking about?

And yes, if you count the frames, Derpy has no more than 30 seconds of screen time. “Entire last half” my foot.
Let alone a friggin’ Internet meme cutie mark…

If you feel upset that you were “pandered” to, then you weren’t pandered to. The reference was aimed at people who would appreciate it - not you. Nobody likes you, so they don’t make jokes for you.

Also you’re all fucking idiots.
dragonartistJRR

@Lefty643
…Okay first of all, she didn’t appear until around 3/4 of the way through the episode.

Second, her total screentime after that was probably not much more than two minutes total, and a fair majority of that, she was in the background just she has always been, and she was the actual subject of the camera for maybe fifteen seconds.

I think you’re blowing this just a little bit out of proportion.

“A few seconds”?! Derpy was on screen for the entire last half of Rainbow Falls. I have a pretty good idea of what pandering and appealing are, and putting Ms. Wall-eyed on the screen for any kind of significant capacity is pandering to the over-zealous community that gives more shits about her than the actual characters and their story arcs.
JustSomeLurker

There’s a difference between criticizing the show for being a bit simplistic at times and actually being a prick, mate. You should learn the difference.

People who write for television or any sort of public work of art should be ready for criticism and have thick enough skin to handle it.

Oh, and just because something is intended for children doesn’t mean it should be simplistic in terms of story.

So, putting a wandom reference to an Internet meme, or giving Derpy some seconds of screen time is “pandering”?
You have no idea of what “pandering” is. Do you happen to watch the show for the story, sometimes?

You can’t deny that once she appeared on screen after being gone for so long the episode shifted from a Rainbow Dash episode to a Derpy one in the eyes of the fandom. Nor can you deny that the fans care more about her than most official characters. Face it; they use Derpy as a tool to appease and pander to their fanbase, most likely in an effort to gain higher ratings which result in higher revenue for the studio and Hasbro.

They chose Derpy because they love her,not to generate hype. Writers Storyboard artists and even some of the VAs have all said that the love Derpy. She did in fact appear in the episode, but that didn’t stop the flow episode at all. Majority of the time she was just a support character in the background much like Bulk Biceps and Fluttershy throughout most of the episode.

They could’ve used any, ANY other Pegasus as Dash’s replacement in Rainbow Falls and the episode flow would’ve worked fine, but they chose Derpy because they knew it would garner a lot of interest and buzz about the episode. And episodes that do that suffer. The Last Roundup will NEVER be known as an Applejack episode, but rather the episode when Derpy first spoke. Rainbow Falls will NEVER be remembered as a Dash episode, but as the episode that Derpy returned in. This fandom cares MORE about some background character than the real ones, and the staff recognizes and uses it to pander and appeal to its audience on a wide base.

People wouldn’t hate the pandering so much if it weren’t being used as a crutch.

In the beginning, the show attracted an adult following because there was actual effort being put into it; these days, it’s clear that the staff think they can do whatever they feel like and we’ll lap it right up just as long as they remember to make some pop\nerd culture references and stick Derpy in somewhere.

Read my amended comment I’m not saying that the show has sucked since season one but there are certain things such as pop culture references that are being referred to as pandering these days and that is completely asinine.

No people throw it around because it’s a buzzword. I’ve seen people misuse it ever since Lesson Zero in season 2. Season 2!

The scene with Derpy in The Last Roundup, yes that was pandering to the fandom. However it was done in a way that setup the rest of the episode. Question did it hurt the episode did it slow it down did? The controversy that followed had little to do with pandering.

Grumpy Cat? You mean to tell me that pop culture references in the show which have been in the show since season one are now pandering? Get real.

Derpy’s scene in the latest episode you could say that was pandering but it was done in a way the episode continued to flow.

It’s not the show hasn’t been doing this from season one

No it hasn’t- not to this extent, anyway- and even if it had, “It’s always sucked! Why bother trying to improve?!” isn’t much of a defense.
