This is actually kind of an allegory for MLP: FiM vs. everything else on TV/in movies/etc.
 
MLP: FiM is the masterfully made drawing of something most people consider childish, inane, or just plain weird.
 
Much of the dull entertainment out there today is the crayon-drawing, shoddily made (although that doesn’t mean its bad or its makers are bad) and featuring a safe and “normal” concept.
