And the funny thing is that isn’t that inaccurate a description. Monthong durian are nice and soft, with a custard-like texture. The flooded sewer part would be the raw power of the scent.
I’ve heard it’s like excellent custard passed through a flooded sewer.
Well, being bizarrely fond of that scent, I should have no issue.
Ah. The smell is incredibly pungent. I’ve heard it compared to rotting meat in terms of how strong the smell is.
I’ve even seen people so repelled they actually had to leave the room. The smell is just too much.
Tastes delicious, though.
I don’t know, I’ve never gotten to smell or taste one.

I know this feel more or less being the “perfect child” of our family. More is expected of you and when you can’t meet these impossibly high standards people get pissed at you, even though those standards are higher than anything you’ve shown being capable of.
Sure, higher standards are acceptable, but it’s not like becoming a princess did anything to change her and make her flawless (a mary sue), so give her some slack in the mean time.
There’s no doubt that reason was pretty much breaking down by that point, so Twilight’s mistake was understandable enough. However, that doesn’t mean she couldn’t have learned from it.
They all have personal stuff to work on. As you’ve said, Twilight gets more of the spotlight than the others, and she has also been promoted to pretty pony princess, so yes, it wouldn’t be extreme or unfair to say that a little more is expected from her.
Not necessarily, maybe they figured eating their buildings and having to rebuild was better than eating all their food and starving. Plus as you could tell by the end of that episode it was crazy stressful and Twilight looked like she was going mad. Maybe the reverse spell didn’t just come to mind. (Also, there being a reverse spell doesn’t necessarily mean she knows it, but could be implemented if need be) It was a shot in the dark, but no one else had any ideas to stop them, and had they not done something then they’d surely be screwed. Sure pinkie had a plan, but no one knew that because pinkie is freaking stupid sometimes. Had pinkie been intelligible then there’d be less destruction (to food and buildings).
tl;dr Yes is was a risk, but they didn’t exactly have many options did they?
If what she did to the parasprites was reversible, wouldn’t she have done so? That was one of those times when she didn’t have a clear idea of what would result from her wild shot in the dark, and didn’t seem to have any idea of how to undo it.
It would certainty be interesting to read the results..

Most spells have reverse spells, so they’re not that big a deal.

Well math doesn’t lie, but I’d basically have to review every episode to really get specific with the math, and I don’t want to do that.
I thought of the chicken thing, but hey, it was a stressful situation and she was trying to take care of the kids. It was… semi-dire, a chaotic situation that needed quick looking after. More or less.
Anyway, that’s the exception. The other situations were pretty serious. And at least the effects of the Stare aren’t permanent, as far as we know.

If I were to calculate the ratio of times Twi has used magic as the solution to the number of episodes Twi was the one coming up with the solution, I would bet you that it would be about the same if not less than the ratio of times Fluttershy has used the stare as a major part of the solution to the number of episodes where Fluttershy played any descent role in the solution.
I say ratio because Twilight is the focus most the time. If Twilight uses magic as the solution in 10 episodes but comes up with some solution in 30 and Fluttershy uses the stare in 3 episodes but has only been a reasonable part of the solution in 9 episodes, then Twilight is no more worth criticizing.

She used the stare to make chicken go into (or was it come out of?) their chicken coop. She clearly doesn’t use it in “dire situations” only and has no ethical qualms with it. The writers pulled that from their ass.

I don’t. I have also critiqued the writing when Pinkie is portrayed like a total nincompoop such as in WA, Dash as an obnoxious self-obsessed egomaniac in MMDW, and even Fluttershy as she was done up in PYHD.
By the way though, Fluttershy doesn’t overuse her stare. It’s a similar concept to Twilight’s brainwashing magic, which is precisely why Fluttershy says she prefers not to use it. Twilight has no such ethical qualms about this.
