Yeah, he should stop trying to keep up his facade of “coolness” and just be nice to Dash, and accept that he has a thing for her. And then maybe her very short-lived thing for him will return.
In that he has a habit which causes problems, What is it like to just hang it up and forget it? Opening the curtains to let the sun shine in (And actually be a friend with Rainbow Dash) comes to mind.

Such is the ego? What is it like to crucify the ego? It sounds peaceful.
He’s so inauthentic with everyone that he can’t even be real with himself, so if he happened to actually have a thing for someone seen as “uncool”, such as Dash, then he wouldn’t even admit it to himself because that would mean that HE’S “uncool”.
And the idea of him being “uncool” would break his fragile little mind.
