Funny you should use the word “pidgin”, considering that the actual Russian way of saying things seems even more “pidginy” from an English perspective. If you wanted to say “I’m American” in Polish you’d say something that literally translates to “Am American”. In Russian you’d say “I American”. I Tarzan, you Jane, vodka good, Fluttershy best pony.
I always found it weird how people imitating a stereotypical “Russian” accent start their sentences with “is”, “am” and “are” instead of the subject. Unlike most other Slavic languages, in Russian subjects are dropped relatively rarely and the word for “is” doesn’t come up in conversation very often, while the words “am” and “are” have pretty much gone out of use. Maybe y’all are just conflating us with Poles or something./shitnobodycaresabout

Is still how Russian stereotype talks in pidgin English! Is still funny to me!
