What the Hell happened to “love and tolerance”, guys? Why would you hurl so many insults over something so insignificant? I saw too many of you act like Hasbro commissioned an episode where the dialogue consisted entirely of racial slurs.

@whom. Yeah no. Don’t compare a character who’s eye color was NEVER SHOWN UNTIL THE SEASON 2 FINALE to changing a main character’s hair color. Scratch’s shitstorm was absolutely minor.
 
With the Derpy one, I had HOPED that Hasbro would’ve stuck with the original product and let the the “retard” complainers fade away with time, but they ended up fanning the flames by actually giving in. If Hasbro hadn’t changed it, the Derpy shitstorm would’ve been alot lower then this.

So Vinyl’s eye color created a negative shitstorm? Or is this an absolute temperature scale?

I’m not even sure if I understood you correctly but Vinyl’s eye thingy was a rather small debate.
 
Saying that it would be like changing Dash’s hair color is just ridiculous. You see, Vinyl’s eye color was never changed. She had about 3 seconds of screen time in the first season and we didn’t see her eyes until the second season finale where we saw that she has magenta eyes.  
Rainbow Dash is one of the main characters and we saw her and her hair color in the very first episode and naturally she appears in almost all other episodes too. There is nothing left to guess or fans to create.
 
I’m not artist myself but I would guess eye color isn’t something that takes too much time when drawing ponies. All those red eye Vinyl pictures are still there. They didn’t cease to exist just because we saw her real eye color. Now some people draw her with magenta eyes and others draw her with red eyes. Only difference now is that magenta is canon and red is fanon.

I say Vinyl Scratch’s eyes was the worst. It was very small difference that took away a very distinguishing feature that she had in less than a second that tons of fans put many talented hours into crafting but people who didn’t care just shrugged it off like something really minor. It would be like changing Rainbow Dash’s hair into a plain blonde and saying all they did was just change the hair color and that isn’t a big deal. Because of that, we have a rift in Vinyl’s fanbase that won’t go away.
 
The Derpy thing was pretty bad but what the hell were you people expecting? As happy as I was to see Derpy, I knew trouble was coming. Hasbro just did what I probably would have done in that situation.

When Hasbro released the doll of Lyra in their toyline, she was named “Heartstrings” instead of Lyra. Eventually however, Heartstrings became accepted as Lyra’s last name in the fandom.

@FlutterLove: The Vinyl Scratch shitstorm was fairly minor. It only took about a week or two for it to get sorted out, and its only real lingering effects is that some artists still want to draw her with red eyes.
