I would like them together for one reason only. Because Hasbro went there. They dug the hole and now must sleep in it. There is no going back man. We. Are. Doing. This.
 
I don’t hate Flash Sentry. But I also don’t like him. Can’t hate the guy because he has been nothing but nice. But I can’t love the guy because he has been nothing but nice. If the crew behind the show want any of us invested in this budding romance then I expect them to make sure that not only is Flash a likeable character, but also that their relationship is a believable one.
 
So far, it seems to be only in the crush zone with Twilight knowing more about Flash than Flash knows Twilight thanks to Dimension Hopping Shenanigans. We’ve got our kooky dynamic folks. Run with it Hasbro. Give us a reason to care.

Right, the nature of hatred is that it’s more vocal, localized to a minority, and much more powerful than the power of good most of the seven billion possess. The saying “Nice guys finish last” exists under these points, I’d presume. :j

I’m assuming you’re talking about the critically-panned “Shadow the Hedgehog” game? I don’t know about the sales of it, but it did get released under the “Player’s Choice” logo, and such “best seller” labels.  
Regardless of it’s flaws, I felt it wasn’t really a bad game, I just felt it wasn’t “finished,” and a bit hurried for release, which is a problem Sega sometimes has with making games. (Most feel Sonic’06 was worse, and even more unfinished. Heck, the manual mentioned things that were taken out of the game.)  
Still, we don’t have a “sequal” for it, nor any spin-offs for other beloved Sonic characters like Knuckles due to the hate the game gets. So sales alone don’t effect a game’s popularity apparently.
 
Though you have a point, just ‘cause one “side” of the fandom is more vocal about their dislike/hate of something, doesn’t make them the “majority.” Many older Sonic fans HATE Shadow with a passion, make hate-fanart of him, put him in their top-10 worst game character lists, and such, yet he’s actually quite popular with younger Sonic fans. I think he even won a “favorite character” poll on an official Sonic website surprisingly.  
(As for me I don’t feel strongly about Shadow either way. I just see him as an “ok” character, but I prefer Metal-Sonic when it comes to “evil-look-alikes” for Sonic.)

Anyway, I expect the fandom’s slightly more against Dreamy Cutebottom than that (I’d expect it to be 50/50 or just a little against him), but the target audience is probably overwhelmingly in favor of him, so if there’s a season 5 I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s included…

The majority of Flash hatred is the vocal minority while most of the brony population seems very supportive overall. This may signify that while we have jerks in the fanbase, we’re mostly objective. Also, and I’m guessing completely, gamers seem to be attracted to crap a lot more than reviewers and sales figures imply. Signifying they are much more likely to take a chance on something which is aesthetically appealing. Subsequently, I’m pretty sure Shadow outsold certain Mario spin-offs in the mid ‘00s. Know this is all conjecture and can and should be debated as it’s not absolute fact. :)
