I’m a she, trough it would not be bad if it was not Hasbro doing it, but another company like Marvel\DC Comics or Toei Animation buying the rights for it. Expecially if they overhaul the settings completely and maybe change the style the characters are drawn in, and make them into humans for maybe short, goryer scenes.
 
Basically, at times it will resemble Pulp Fiction meets Gundam meets Neon Genesis Evangelion meets Attack on Titan meets Top Gun, more than My Little Pony.

It would not be awful, because there would be a lot of explosions, and battles. And anime-style fights, and transformations into robots and monsters, and there are arcs about villains or artifacts the ponies have to recuperate. And there would be a lot of sad scenes and anime tropes.
 
So it would not be awful, it would be the crying (instead of dread) version of awful, or maybe somewhat verging on awesome, depending on how you see it.

Well, but that show would not just have Derpy in it, it would also feature all of the brony fan-favourites, be more on the “Sci-Fi” genre with Doctor Who references brought in by Doctor Whooves, and feature more violence and main character deaths. Almost no characters directly from MLP, there would still be some toys but mostly of robots and weapons in the series, and actual action figures of the characters, but with molded manes and tails, not like the brushables. And merchandise would mostly be shirts\backpacks\school stuff\posters, mostly featuring battle scenes or weapons and robots and monsters, maybe with a pony or two piloting the robot, but not being the focus of the image.

Hasbro is a company that sells toys. Any IPs they turn into cartoons will purely be to advertise a toy line. That’s what MLP is, and for them to dive into controversy just because some adult fans like it would be like buying a boat in Arizona because your neighbor likes boats.

Trough, if the reason they cannot call her “Derpy” anymore is just because Yamino found it offensive, then you can just “transplant” her in a spin-off for the bronies (where she keeps the name and personality), and the main show gains a new Raindrops recolor that stays in the background.

Some names can be trademarked for some things, but not for others.  
Which is why Sweetie Drops is called “Bon Bon” in the trading cards and mobile game, but never on toys. She was even labeled “Bon Bon” in an apparent production image of the toys, before being actually named.  
And “Colgate” they would never be able to use anyway. _{Plus it’s stupid}

Yup, but they “let down” with Bon Bon becoming Sweetie Drops, Carrot Top becoming “Golden Harvest”, and Colgate becoming “Minuette”.
 
“Carrot Top” became Golden Harvest’s nickname, and Minuette is called that in the blind-bags, but there are still fanfictions where she is named Colgate.
 
Also, i believe that if Derpy s’ wall-eyed face were not noticed at first, they would have called her “Bubblecup” and she would remain a simple background pony. Heck, Parasol or Lightning Bolt could have been in Derpy s’ place still being wall-eyed. If Derpy were not walleyed in that scene, she would never be noticed by the bronies, just like we do not notice any other background pegasi.

Yet Hasbro has gave us evidence about having registred Derpy’s name, such as with her MSB sticks and Funko’s vinyl figure receipt’s code.
