The way its on the big grainy screen like that makes it seem like a movie

I’m getting tired of this “Worf Effect” shit. Celestia is solar powered, and I don’t mean photovoltaic, I mean thermonuclear. Most of her power went into shielding the plasma beam she fired at Chrysalis to keep it from flash-frying everypony in the hall. When Chryssy was unexpectedly able to counter it, the conditions where the beams met reached center-of-the-sun energy density, and fusion occurred. Celestia had a choice of absorbing the blast or blowing the top off the mountain, and that was no choice at all. She put her trust in Twi doing the right thing, then ate an H-bomb for her little ponies.

Oh my god, that is the perfect “A Storm is Coming” animation.

Better be fucking true. Fo srs. This is a creature who moves the fucking sun like it’s a part of her body. The Worf Effect shouldn’t apply.

Okay, my bet is that Twilight has to take a test of some sort and fails but eventually passes by either saving Equestria or proving that she really knows a lot about friendship by acting like it.

The hair’s very striking but it’s a cheap trick to make a shot look dynamic without doing very much work (that’s why you see it in anime a lot). Where you can really see the animation has improved is in the more subtle stuff in other shots, like Spike’s movements, Twilight shifting her head around as she sings, etc. Yes, the show’s art team just keeps getting better and better at it.

SEASON 3

I feel the theme of this episode is aimed at the college aged audience more so than anyone else. A rather subtle nod to the fandom if you will.

Why is this still showing up even though I’ve blocked ‘spoiler’ and ‘season_3’ in my settings?

Naturally, they spent a lot on the first episode (or two if it’s a 2parter). after that it will probably be back to standard quality.

I wonder what Trixie’s return will bring. It has to teach a lesson, after all. My bet’s on forgiveness, or maybe something “darker” with unintended consequences and whatnot. Shrugponies away.
 
We also apparently get much more Luna. Yes, Luna! You can be useful! You just have to actually, you know, try. I hope that means Celestia gets an episode, too. There have been rumblings of a song in the works… All the gustas in the universe would be had if Celestia sang.
