I don’t think Bonnie had anything to do with the TV shows, and only created the original toy-line. Still, if it weren’t for her toys, there’d be no MLP TV shows, so she still deserves kudos.

Also, she approves of bronies. :)

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

Normally I’d post as a BG Pony anon, but figure I’d talk like myself for once.

I have fond memories of the G1 MLP. Of course at first I had to tolerate it since my little sis liked to watch the “pretty horsies” and threw a fit whenever I changed the channels for something else. One scolding of my ma later and I had to watch it.

What Bonnie said was true. The show was well-written and had plenty of action and “non-stereotypical girly-girl” animation to appeal to both girls and boys. My watching it because my sis watched it soon gave away to both actually enjoying the show. She liked the pretty ponies and I liked the stories. Let’s face it. Would you say Tirek, Grogar, Arabus, Crunch, etc. are “girly villains”?

This was a series that despite having “pretty pastel ponies” had plenty of great animation, excellently written storylines and fun. Something to enjoy watching.

Naturally, I drifted away once G2 came around and they went towards the less-action oriented and more slice-o-life female stereotype route, losing the appeal G1 had.

When I heard of G4, I thought “oh great more girly crap”, but then a friend showed me some clips (the best of Pinkie from the first 10 eps of S1) and I found my fascination rekindled and watched the new show’s episodes on youtube. I felt happy that the show had become accessible to both gender once more. I’m glad Lauren brought it back to Bonnie’s vision.

Faust may be our goddess, but Bonnie’s the precursor.

I salute this wonderful lady who knew her stuff and I thank her for making my TV childhood days slightly fun with her vision.
