I think the whole point was that Fluttershy didn’t know anything about fashion other than buzzwords picked up somewhere, similar to other client-producer relationships where the customer suggests something they just saw somewhere and forces the creator to make it.

The point of the scene was not to serve as a pocket encyclopedia of sewing, the point was for it to be [i]funny[/i]. Making FS suddenly spill out tons of fancy sewing terms out of nowhere serves its purpose, whether they are correct shouldn’t make a difference to 99% of people who are not professional designers.

I’ll be honest, I kinda like the idea that the writers made Fluttershy’s complaints non-nonsensical on purpose.
 
It would explain how Fluttershy’s specifications resulted in such a trainwreck.

What bothers me the most is the line “Make sure that it stays within our budget” during the song. Rarity’s making the dresses at her own expense, the others don’t get to complain about a budget.
