Oh, and the next two times I got fillings I also had the nox, though the third time, I found myself mentally trapped in what felt like an endless 2 second loop of time, which was only mildly terrifying, so I think I’ll forgo it in the future and just ask that the dentist take their time with the novacane so it doesn’t hurt enough for me to object to it.

FYI, this gas is probably not good for your mentality. Plus, wrong usage might cause injuries or even death.  
Well, now I’m wondering how Scoots got the gas at the first place…

You can still get it at the dentist, sometimes. I insisted on it when I had to get a filling done because I am absolutely terrified of surgery type stuff and needles and so on. I was ready to have a panic attack but it helped me calm down enough to get through it alright. Which was extra stupid because I’d already had my wisdom teeth taken out and that by all rights should have been worse, but like you said, modern drugs are even better. For that, they gave me an IV of something in the back of my hand to put me into light sedation, which in my case was basically just me withdrawing into my head, keeping my eyes closed and just listening/feeling what was going on for the hour or two it took. Which was bizarre and still kind of terrifying considering you can still hear and feel the pressure and soforth just not the pain.
 
(The worst part of the filling was still definitely getting the shot of novacane, which can be pretty easily summed up; Death-grip the chair, force head back into headrest, eyes shut tight, jaw open wide and just do it get it over with AAAUGH fuck fuck take it out please fuck fuck phew.)

Although a kid somehow jamming his head into an engine cylinder would be pretty impressive…

The entire movie being some insane coma dream induced by sorting to much of the NOS would make considerably more sense. (Or the snail is just dead and in snail heaven)

I thought this same thing when I saw the trailor to that flick, I know its a kids movie and all but the idea of Nitrous Oxide gifting magical speed powers to the snail is retarded.

Be careful with pressurized containers, Scoot. They can be just as hazardous as what’s inside.

I wouldn’t say it’s a “common” reaction. I don’t think doctors would expect for people to laugh, but wouldn’t be surprised if they did.

Well sure, a lot of relaxing medication can make you chuckle, but it’s not in any way the intention of it. But a lot of cartoons have it, that if you get in any contact with it, you will laugh your ass off for several hours. But true true, it’s not uncommon that people smile and/or laugh after getting in contact with a fair amount of it.

Well… it CAN at least. Among its many many effects, which vary from person to person, it CAN cause euphoria (i.e. Happy Times). It wouldnt be called Laughing Gas without good reason, and in this case it really was used to make people have a good laugh. Its just a name though, its more ‘Gas That Can Make People Laugh’ than ‘Gas Which Will Force You To Laugh’.
 
Incidentally it can also cause hallucinations, dizziness and a whole load of weird psychological effects. Oh, and of course its original use was for pain relief during early surgeries. Its not particularly effective by itself and much easier to overdose people, compared to the painkillers we have today, but it was a damn sight better than the alternatives back then.
