Given that shot from the trailer that shows the other 5 in a group shot sans Twilight, it could be the case that this world’s Twi + Spike (not the ones coming from Eq) never came to where the school is, and thus never met these. This would also explain why Twi’s living in the library while there.

Mind you, that does set up a possibly of this world’s Twi + Spike discovering the other 5 later.
