Honestly, I haven’t been seeing nearly as many people being upset by this as you might expect.
 
Hell, I don’t think that Twilight is actually going to have a love interest in the Mane series, since it’s marketed towards a younger female demographic that probably still thinks boys are gross.

It does give enough that if the movie proves popular (HA) they could keep doing more though it wouldn’t be tying with the pony side much. It basically makes for a perfect spinoff series where you don’t have to worry about continuity past this point.

Well guess we will have to wait and see if he is Twilight’s crush in Se4 or not.
 
Though I think all he will have in Se4 ( if he does show up ) is a background role, maybe a few lines. ( To be honest I think he is only in the movie so Hasbro can make a boy doll to do something similar to the Monster High Boyfriends, and that after this movie he may never be seen again out side of Equestria Girls and a background role in Friendship is Magic )

Doesn’t sound like it continues after the movie, so I guess everybody wins. Maybe.
