I hate to seemingly start anything, but the whole idea of triggers as they not most commonly used these days is 100% complete BS.
I mean, a bunch of overly coddled brats took something that was mainly for people with real PTSD and have basically turned the term into a giant bunch of stupid excuses to try to not have to deal with things they assume they won’t like or whatever and act like it actually hurts them and it’s really just them throwing tantrums when they don’t get what they want.
But far too many people these days need to learn that life isn’t going to be all sunshine and complete success for them, and they need to just suck it up and learn how to actually deal with that fact of life in a mature way.

The problem with triggers is that you can’t know someone else’s triggers until they tell you. You can anticipate that things like loud noises or depictions of violence might be someone’s triggers, but seemingly mundane triggers like breakfast also exist and are just as valid. This is why using trigger warnings for few common triggers is only a partial solution. The main solution is compassion, tact and individualized approach. Demanding breakfast trigger warnings on strangers’ behalf is of course not a solution.

It is normal to have triggers, but it is not normal to expect the world to conform and cater around them just for you as many people unfortunately expect.
