Pound Cake and his family with Silver Spoon

Recap from Pumpkin’s family photo: At some point before the cake twins grew into adults Pinkie Pie bought a large share of Sugarcube Corner from The Cakes, with the twins growing up they needed more than the built-on living space at the store and Pinkie was determined to keep using it as her base of opperations, so they split the business with her, taking the bits she gave to buy a larger house in the more residential area of the town.

The whole Cake family still uses Sugarcube corner to display sell their goods, it’s still partly theirs, and you can usually find at least one member of the family making use of the kitchen at any time, but only Pinkie Pie’s family lives and sleeps there. Pinkie did extend the building somewhat herself for her own kids as she started having more.

As Silver Spoon grew up she came to realize, perhaps with help from The Cutie Mark Crusaders, that her talent was in judging food, discovering she had a strong and varied palate. She has family in Canterlot and Manehatten, in fact her mother and father in my headcanon are Silver Frames and Roger Silvermane. She grew up with relatives in ponyville as her parents decided they were both too busy to be her primary care-givers and trusted Filthy Rich. with whom they shared the same circles, to keep an eye on her for them as well while she hung out with Diamond Tiara. Because of this Silver Spoon wanted to be able to take her talent to Canterlot, Manehatten, and even more, to break out and see what her parents saw and share her skill.

As Spoon was growing up and improving her talents she would make efforts to join in any event held in Ponyville that had a food theme, from high teas to the apple family cook-outs, she would sample as much as possible and share her thoughts with the chefs and supporting townsfolk. This is where she came to know Pound Cake and his family, as they would both host and partake in most events. He found her talent facinating and would revel in being able to create something new she hadn’t yet tried, helping her expand her range and enjoying her insight into each flavour as they melded together in the dish.

As an adult Silver Spoon is living her dream of being able to visit the larger towns and cities in Equestria and has made quite the name for herself in the culinary world. When she first got to Canterlot she faced a lot of trouble with Zesty Gourmand, whose own tastes where miniscule and particular, while Spoon would adore each chefs individual takes on recipes (she loves Saffrons restaurant). Despite this she still spends most of her time in Ponyville with her family, only going out for an event and coming home as soon as she can to share her experiences with her dotting husband, who awaits her arrival with barely contained excitement.

Pound Cake himself leads a simpler life and passion, much like his parents he’s simply happy to provide his desserts to the town and raise his children. He loves hearing his wifes tales of the places she goes and ponies she meets, and her impression of the foods she tasted.

Crystal Flute is their first child, her talent follows her mothers, but directed at beverages. She started out judging teas and she spends a lot of time with her cousin Charlotte, who loves doing blind tests on her to see if she can guess the type of tea she is serving her.

Silver Platter is the second child, her talent is in serving food. She has some high standards but mostly because she wants the ponies she is serving to be completely happy and satisfied with her work and the time they have while she does so.

Parure Pearl is the youngest child, and only son. His talent is actually not food related at all, but instead in judging jewelry. He can find the differences and value in cut gems, as well as pair pieces together fashionably.

Design-wise I used a lot of Mrs Cake again, just like with Pumpkin’s kids. I just love Mrs Cake, shes got such nice colours and shapes to use.
