Description

It was something unexpected, she thought he’d be fine. He was a medic, it was very unlikely that anything bad would happen to him. But something did. Nura Fays husband had died from enemy fire in a camp full of the wounded, dead, and insane. Those ponies did not need to die, and neither did he. She’d been 8 months pregnant when she’d gotten the letter stating his death.
It was a stormy grey day, the graveyard was full of the dead bodies of soldiers who left their families behind. His funeral was quiet and somber, happening only a week after Nura got the letter. Only Nura’s family and his showed up, all of his friends fighting in the war. All of the ponies left one by one, each trying to console Nura, non being successful. Eventually Nura was left alone.
…..
“So you’re gone”
Silent tears trickle down her cheeks ask she says this, her voice is hoarse from nights of sobbing.
“I didn’t think it was true, until they brought your body”
She pauses to wipe her cheeks, and motions to her stomach where his unborn child is laying, peacefully unaware of her mothers grief.
“I didn’t get to write you to tell you, but the doctor says our child is a girl”
A small, sad smile adorns her face.
“I hope she has your eyes, or your smile”
The smile is gone, replaced by tears.
“I wish you were here, because without you the world feels so grey”

It’s kinda short but I’m no good at telling stories. But I hope this got the point across.
