I never understood bubble tea. Why not just drink regular tea?

Bubble tea doesn’t have bubbles, but spherical candy like things made out of tapioca. Obviously they’re called bubbles because they look like bubbles. In Chinese, bubble tea is usually referred to as “pearl milk tea”.

I never understood bubble tea. Why not just drink regular tea? Bubble tea isn’t carbonated or anything (at least, not the “bubble tea” I tried). It’s literally just tea with bubbles blown into it.
Edit: Ah. After a quick Google search, I see that I was ripped off a few years ago when I tried it. Welp, that’s par for the course in my area. 🙄 Every store and every merchant in my city always tries to rip everyone off.
