I don’t know whether this is true or not, but I’ve seen somewhere that mafia families allow their children to opt out of becoming part of the family, but on the condition that they make at least one kill or perform some illicit activity for them so that they can have something to pin on that person should he decide to badmouth the family in public. Maybe this is what would happen with Pippamena’s baby.
