Doing what math says makes the most money is not stupid. Or are you saying this is the stupidity of fans for not supporting the other MLP series enough Hasbro wouldn’t do this?
It’s suck’s that we’re on the losing end, but that has nothing to do with Hasbro being stupid.

I’d be very interested to see where the data came from- that audience report number is impressive if it is actually a lot higher than MYM or FIM (or even the other shows).
Also yeah it sucks that they’re much less focused on the teenage/adult side of the MLP fandom but I personally think we’re getting close to being a rounding error at this point, so I don’t really blame them. I just hope the content is held to a decent standard.

They didn’t make G5 a sequel to G4 for us. They just didn’t want to move away from the rich world G4 created. People would still complain about G5 even if it was reboot. Did you forget that thousand people thought it was a reboot and still hate it?

MYM was supposed to be the adult audience appeal with stronger writing and connection with G4. It failed to satisfy in that department and the younger audiences who wouldn’t mind are gravitating to TYT which has more focused appeal. This is what caused the decline of G4; its need to balance kid/adult appeal meant it reached its limit of the latter in S5, when cartoons with better widespread/adult appeal became the norm and caused them to gravitate away from G4.
TLDR; they’re trying to appeal to adults (like being a G4 sequel) was beyond what they could do successfully (given that bar has been raised) and thus a critical/financial failure they’re moving away from.
Question is if G5 wasn’t billed as a sequel to G4 but was otherwise the same, would we have cared enough about it that it would have had what success/popularity it did?

What is this ‘purchase’ they speak of? The merch or the show? Does watching another episode count as ‘repeat purchase’? And do people not even YouTube?
