Description

I’ve always felt this is what they were going for. Based on how she is in Party of One, her happy-go-lucky nature seems to be a defense mechanism for major depression (unipolar) and she has to be in a state of euphoria to ignore it.

Lauren Faust, who also has major depression, had every incentive to make a character like this when conceptualizing Pinkie Pie and supervising Party of One. She was very ambitious and wanted a lot of character depth. In the end, it’s a theory, but Pinkie does seem to have many similarities with this kind of defense mechanism. Try not to accidentally sell Lauren’s genius short when you dismiss something like this.

Nope. She’s just very sensitive. All my feels for those who are like this irl and want to be connected to Pinkie in this way, though.
