Apple Breeze folded her wings comfortably folded against her back with her saddle bag as she walked into Sugarcube Corner, mindful of the many sweets that were strown around the shop. “Goodmorning Mrs. Pie, Mr. Pie.” She greeted, giggling when the pink mare popped up from behind the counter.
“Goodmorning Breezy!” Pinkie giggled.
“Are you here for Lil Cheese?” Cheese Sandwich asked, looking past the work he was preparing to glance at the red maned Pegasus.
“Eyup!” Breeze chimed, trotting up to the counter. “Thanks so much for letting him come with Sweet Apple and me to Appaloosa.”
“Nonsense! That festival sounds so fun!” Pinkie hopped in place. “I just wish I could go too! I’ll go get him!”
“I have to get going, you’ll keep an eye on him won’t you?” Mr. Pie asked with mirth, nuzzling his wife while she darted up the stairs.
“We’re three young Ponies on a short trip to Appaloosa, what trouble could we get into?” She smiled innocently, getting a loud laugh form the stallion.
“Because the three of you have never gotten into trouble before.” He poked, making Breeze flinch at the memory of the goose incident, and the dam incident, and there was the thing with the jelly-. He ruffled her mane, mindful of her hat, before walking out the door to head to work.
Huffing, she fixed her mane, only to jump in surprise as wide green eyes met hers. Her wings flared in surprise, and she let out a squeak. Recognition replaced surprise and she sighed. “Amythyst! You scared me.”
“Sorry.” The muted pink filly blinked, but didn’t move away. Like how Pinkie was the oddball in her family, Amythyst was definitely the odd ball in her own. Truthfully, while Apple Breeze was close with the oldest Pie sibling, her exposure to the younger was very limited, what with her chores, and the cutiemarrkless filly still being in school. “So…you’re an Apple, right?”
Hesitantly, Apple Breeze nodded, unsure where the question came from. “Yes.”
“Then why aren’t you an earth pony?” Amythyst prodded.
“Um, because I was adopted, and one of my parents had Pegasus in their family a long time ago.” She explained, trying not to shift under the filly’s intense gaze. “Like Pound Cake, and Pumpkin Cake.”
“Oh.” Amythyst nodded, but then got closer to Apple Breeze’s face. “So Rainbow Dash is your Mom?”
“Er yes, but I was adopted.”
Amythyst tilted her head in thought. “So you aren’t really an Apple then?”
“I-” Her ears flicked back, and a familiar thread of anxiety found itself in her chest, causing her wings to flutter self-consciously behind her.
“Amythyst!” Apple Breeze jumped at her friend’s voice, usually so light and airy unusually heavy with irritation. She offered a smile to Cheese, which he returned tensely before turning to his sister. “That was really rude to say.”
“Its not her fault,” Apple Breeze tried to soothe. “I probably wasn’t explaining it right, She’s just a filly Cheese.”
“Still-”
“I’ll explain it to her!” Pinkie Pie chimed, nudging her daughter to stand beside her. “Sweet Apple is probably waiting for you, you two run along and have some fun! And bring me some cake back with you!”
The stallion frowned, and looked like he was about to protest, but Apple Breeze nudging his shoulder make him nod, and brighten back up. “Sure thing! See you in a couple days mom!”
“Race you there!” Apple Breeze grinned, shoving Cheese Pie lightly before bolting towards the door.
“Hey!” Her friend laughed, taking off after her, all tenseness forgotten.
Amythyst “Ami” Pie obviously takes more after Pinkie’s side of the family, and is named after them, unlike her older brother Cheese Pie, who is more like their parents. While it’s never her intention, she can’t help being blunt, like most other children, not understanding that some things are just too sensitive to talk about. She’s not well put together because I made her on the spot specifically for this edit/base. Also yes, Cheese Sandwich took Pinkie’s last name. His full name is Cheese Sandwich-Pie, Fight me.
Also I wrote/edited this while listening to SmallishBeans play in MCC so, its not very well written/done. MCC is still going so I might edit some Apple and Cheese freindship.
