Twilight isn’t sure if she can tell her mirror husband the truth of where she comes from, despite his reassurance.

So after posting two “G4 meets G5” drawings back to back, I wanted to just focus on G4 for a bit and do something a little surprising. Some time ago, I proposed the idea of an AU where Twilight never became an alicorn princess and is leading a completely different life.

As this little narrative goes, Twilight is called to the Crystal Empire to examine the crystal mirror when it starts going haywire. During her investigation however, she becomes ensnared in the mirror’s power and ends up in a universe where she never became the princess of friendship, and is instead leading the life of a devoted wife, mother, and shopkeeper in Ponyville. She is married to Flim, one of the Flim Flam brothers, and together the couple have two boys: Cash Flow and Comet Sweep. The family owns and operates Golden Oak, which in the mirror universe is now a bookstore rather than a library. Meanwhile on the other side, Cadance, Shining Armor, and Spike try to get in contact with Twilight in order to bring her home before the mirror portal closes. But as time passes Twilight becomes accustomed to her altered life, bonds with her new family, and questions whether if she wants to return at all.

That’s basically it. I thought it’d be more fun to form a story around the idea. Yes I know it’s another AU story, but even FIM itself hasn’t shied away from the idea of AUs. I also understand that not everyone is a fan of Twilight and Flim as a ship. If it helps, Twilight is married to a Flim from another universe rather than the one from her own. This version of Flim is an honest salesman and a caring partner as shown here.
