Description

With many different types of creatures being steam engines, there are often different designs. Dragon engines, such as Ember and Smolder here, have extra funnels to help with the extra smoke they produce when making so much steam. Because dragons are naturals with fire, they can produce more steam than any other type of engine, giving them the best stamina.
As someone who’s royal, Ember has similar powers to Celestia and Luna, so she can turn any dragon she chooses into a steam locomotive. She also pulls trains on special occasions. On the other hand, Smolder is quite a versatile engine. While her classification is mostly suited for goods work, Smolder has pulled the occasional passenger train.

Hmm…this makes me wonder what the dragons would look like if they were based on classic American steam locomotives instead of British steam locomotives. After all, the engines in Britain tend to have my stylistic elements to them and tend to be smaller in size, whereas many American steam engines (especially the ones used for hauling freight) tend to be more industrial in appearance and tend to be way larger in size (the most notable example of a giant steam locomotive being the UP 4-8-8-4 Big Boy, which is the largest steam locomotive in the world that is currently in operation). It could certainly be fun to switch things up (and make the characters look less like they were from Thomas, a TV show whose locomotive designs were largely inspired by engines used on British railway lines).
