$180 goes to an independent artist vending off their hard work. Especially if it’s Pipp or one you really like, pay up and support the artists.

A lot of people would love to have a well-made plush, and it is importami to support the artist. But for the country where I live 180$ would be with today rate of exchange around 787 and also comes the price of shopping it here. Maybe someday…

While I couldn’t afford it, the price may still be way too low to be fair for the artist. Statements about the price of plushs (or art in general for that matter) are incomplete if they are done without consideration of the time it takes to create said plush or art.
If a plush or a piece of art takes 10 or 20 or 30 or more hours to make one should calculate the per hour earnings of the artist. Also subtract the material costs from whatever the artist actually earns for the own work. If then the per hour payment of the artist remains very high, one may think about whether the quality warrants the payment.
One should never use the price of machine made or printed mass produced products as a legitimate comparison to the price of something individual created with hours upon hours of work put into it.
I say this as one who cannot afford the prices, but I don’t think that this is the because of any unreasonable prices of the artists. On the contrary, due to “price competition” at conventions I think many artists sell for prices lower than what may be considered fair for them.

Plushies are very special things. They are about as close as you can get to having an actual pony or other imaginary friend there beside you. To some, they are a critical creature comfort, practically essential to a person’s emotional well being. I feel like I could possibly (and rather quickly) wither into a dry & crusty little ball of despair if I suddenly no longer had them in my life. So yeah, while it is completely understandable why the good ones are so pricey, it is heartbreaking when you realize you can’t afford one you really like.

Ye, the price turns me away most times.
I mean, I absolutely understand the artist invested their own money, time and effort into creating it and absolutely deserve to be compensated for that.
But I’m not really a big earner and essentials like rent, food and gas already take a toll on my savings.
Ain’t much left for the stuff you’d like to get.

Well it’s money I don’t have. And if I were to ask my aunt or uncle to my me it, they’d say no because of the price.

its also because its not mass produced, mass production tends to keep costs low

$180 is actually really cheap in terms of average-sized, handmade plushies. A LOT of work goes into them, of course they’re gonna be expensive.
