Don’t they just tell DHX, “Hey, we’re making a new toy, could you put it in the show? Kthxbye.” The writers have creative control over the story and not so much what it’s based on.

i have kind of a love/hate thing going on with mst3k (which i only started watching over a year ago). this “mantra” is a fucking load of bullcrap and the show has some pretty insufferable fans. i mean they’re nowhere near as awful as bronies but they still drive me up the wall.
 
but hey, it’s a pretty funny show really. well, about half way in it is once they stop referencing old shit that i’ve never heard of ad nauseum. the best episodes (hardly any of the popular ones which tend to piss me off in how unfunny most of them are [eg. pod people]. manos is one exception though) are right up there with some of the all time best comedies that i have ever seen in my sad, pathetic, lonely, miserable life.
 
so whatever. it’s just when i see shit like this it comes off as incredibly smug and hypocritical to me.

Regarding the picture: Yes in the case of sending death threats to either the makers of the show or Hasbro, or just being an asshole about it in general.
 
No in the case of literary criticism.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 was pretty cool.

I’ve seen numerous people claim that the “girliness” of the show is holding it back. There’s nothing wrong with girliness, just as long as the media doesn’t present it as the only option available.

I see the “pretty pretty princess” thing thrown around like it’s an insult. That heavily implies that there’s something wrong with traditional princesses to begin with, that this show must give up any sort of feminine characteristics otherwise it won’t be taken seriously.

They’re not useless because they’re a princess. And if you think that having femininity in a show is a bad thing, I don’t know what to say to you.

I loved the show, but my blind eyes were illuminated thanks to pretty, pretty princess Twilight. Now, I just expect them to “expand upon the background of princesses” where Hasbro says all princesses are alicorns because they are special, thus allowing little girls to relate to the product.
