I use pessimism to motivate action. I use optimism to rid myself of stress and uncertainty that could compromise my actions or prevent me from engaging in them. I use realism to craft the method by which I then proceed to act.

Mindsets must be our tools, not merely inclinations that blind us, make us vulnerable, depress us, or stop us from taking action. The weak-minded will use optimism to merely assure themselves against an inevitable misfortune, use pessimism as an excuse to not pursue changes they desire, and use realism as a way of looking down upon others to make themselves feel that they are better.

I’m a realist/pessimist when it comes to humanity in general, but an optimist when it comes to specific individuals.

It’s a strange combination.

Some people want the world to evolve; some people want the world to change; some people want to see the world turn to ash. As for me? I just want the damn world to change the channel, so I don’t have to watch the same, boring bull crap each and every day I wake up.

I agree. I find people fanatically cling or tend to respect optimistic to a ridiculous extent when it’s just as much a coping mechanism as pessimism. They both spring from unreality and an emotion attempt to lessen pain by way of future expectation.
