It's bad. In a good way!
As a bad artist, I find myself struggling to put lines in the right place to get things to look the right shape or depth. It’s only ocurred to me now that what looks so bad about the G5.5 design is that it is an art skill level equal to my own, but with a budget. Or well, equal to what I was. I’d say I’m probably beyond most of those mistakes now. But there it is. hiding behind the excuse of “style”, the official designs are just badly drawn.
It’s incredible how much better the fixed version is, with so few changes. That is the difference between having art experience. It’s not even more complicated, it’s just better.

Seeing it side by side makes you realize just how broken that mouth is next to the jaw. One side is a mouth without cheeks and the other half is “I have no mouth but I must scream”.
