Description

High up a baleful hill stands the house of Snowfall Frost, the Unicorn protagonist of A Hearth’s Warming Tail. Although she came to embrace the holiday after moons of resenting it, her dark abode was soon abandoned. It is said that after she moved into a new home, her original one was never acquired by anypony else. Then one night, as time wore away on this house, it mysteriously disappeared. Some say Snowfall, Princess Celestia, or Unicorns involved in urban housing and development used magic to relocate it on top of a lone hill. The most popular story is that ghosts and other undead spirits took up residence in Snowfall’s former abode. Nopony really knows what happened to it or why or how it was relocated, but one thing is certain, nopony ever dares to enter that spooky old house. As soon as Luna’s night falls, there’s reasons to be fearful of it seem to be true. As lightning breaks through the sky, strange sounds emanate from within the walls, and it’s said that eerie green lights are seen in the windows where Snowfall made potions and cast spells. And even if it rained, an unnatural fog would roll in and choke the hilltop. Ironically, Snowfall Frost was visited by three spirits of Hearth’s Warming, but her former home would become the permanent abode for ghosts of all sort, creating a perpetual Nightmare Night at this spooky place…
Here’s a black-and-white film version of Snowfall Frost’s Haunted House. In the spirit of Nightmare Night, I thought I’d give this a style to that of those old horror films. I found a video tutorial on how to make this effect, and it was pretty easy and not so taxing. I think I might do this for some of my other Halloween/Nightmare Night pics from this year.
