G5 has nothing to do with the world of G4 and all the references are simply a nod to the previous fans of g4 as a nod and pandering to gain a new audience while blazing their own trail. Other than a simple claim to “Ancient Equestria” That could be simply a fairy tale in this world much like Atlantis is in our real world. Even if the world once was with unity, no pony explicitly states that they are “Equestrian” living in the world there of, or mentions any history that draws a hard connection from the two generations.

That big white spot is an obvious censor of the rest of the glass pane.

It was the “directors” who decided, not the story writers or the crew behind the movie. It was they who decided that Zephyr Heights, which many thought was closer to the east or west coast, should be Canterlot. And the motif for the pegasus city is taken from the IDW comics. Mount Metazoa, to be precise. I think the movie crew and Alcarria thought this important mountain should be Zephyr Heights or at least a copy of this, probably in the Foal Mountains or mountains to the northeast.

Zephyr Heights was not a city to begin with, it was a palace with infrastructure that was probably the essence of this place’s existence. It may not have been smart to put Zehyr Heights in Canterlot, and this triggered an illogic; the travel time from the east coast to Middle Equestria is too short, it should be three days at least one trip. But I think the “directors” (one of them is now dead) want it to push through that G4 will be “gone” from G5. Since 2014/2015, it had been known that pressure from above had its strong mark on the G4 and G5.

This will probably mean that a rewrite can take place, where Zephyr Heights and Canterlot can be separated from each other. We can place Zephyr Heights in the Foal Mountains only half as far away from the east coast.

The Canterlot poster seems to suggest that at least in the concept stage Zephyr Heights was not a future Canterlot
