Yeah I don’t think the alicorns are dead at all.Cause remember when the show started Celestia was about 10000+ years old and Luna around 8000+ or 9000+ years old.So judging from that I would say that Celestia, Luna, Cadence, Twilight and Flurry Heart are alive in the alicorn civilization which is very possibly hidden and alive even after Twilight’s rule ended for some reason.So I would say unknown would be an overstatement on the matter of if they are alive or not.

Why does she have to be a princess at all? There’s nothing in g4’s narrative to suggest that being a princess equates to being an alicorn; and if anything, knowing Sunny’s character she would probably reject the title anyway.

Too hard to say tbh, as we’ve only had one ‘episode’ of g5 to see how things shake out.
