Shut Up
Luna finished her bowl of food and stretched. Sombra had taken the cuff on her leg off, so her leg felt much better and she could move more freely. She sighed and sat down, bored. Sombra looked over from where he was reading on one of the couches.
“Bored?” he asked.
“Yes,” Luna replied, a little crisply. She still felt uncomfortable around him, even after the past two weeks of walking in the Shining Forest with him.
“Hm.” Sombra picked up another scroll and looked at it for a moment. “Well, the glowflies come out tonight, so that should be interesting.”
“Don’t they come out every night?” Luna asked.
“Not like this. This only happens once a year.” He looked back at the scroll. “In fact, it should be starting any moment now.” He stood up. “Care to join me?” Luna shrugged.
“Why not?” Sombra took her chain off of the floor ring and they walked down the tunnel to the forest. When they walked in, nothing really looked different, except a few extra glowflies here and there. “Sooo…. what’s so special about this?” Luna asked.
“Just watch,” he replied. He dropped her chain on the ground and galloped over the short grass. Wherever he ran, clouds of glowflies zipped into the air, lighting up with beautiful white lights. As Sombra walked back to her, Luna looked around in amazement.
“It looks just like the night before the Summer Sun celebration!: she gasped, smiling at the memory.
“Oh,” Sombra blinked. “What do you do there?”
“Well, everypony stays up through the night, even the foals,” she laughed. “At midnight, its a tradition for everypony to write a wish down on a piece of paper and tie it to a sun lamp, which we let go into the sky.”
“What do you do while they’re floating away?” Sombra asked. “Just stare?”
“No,” Luna retorted with annoyance. “That’s when all the dancing starts.”
“Dancing?” Sombra tilted his head to the side. Luna blinked at him.
“You don’t know what dancing is?!”
“Of course I know what dancing is!” he huffed. “How do you do it?”
“YOU DON’T KNOW HOW TO DANCE???!!!” Luna shouted, scaring the glowflies closest to them away.
“No,” Sombra answered, almost meekly.
“Hmph. Everypony should know how to dance.” She fell silent, watching the flies. They both sat for a moment, then Sombra looked over at her.
“Show me.” Luna blinked at him.
“What?”
“Show me how to dance,” he repeated, standing up. Luna stood up slowly.
“It takes a while to learn,” she said, hoping to push off the request.
He grinned down at her. “Even better.” Luna tried to ignore the flutter in her chest at his words.
“Fine,” she answered shortly. As she stepped forward, she tripped on the chain around her neck. Sombra caught her.
“We can get rid of this,” he said quietly, taking the chain off and tossing it to the side. Luna hurried on with the lesson.
“Alright, so for the celebration dance, I put my hoof up here,” she put her left hoof over his shoulder, “you have your hoof on me, and we hold hooves over here.” She rushed through the directions in a business voice, hoping to keep the awkwardness out of the situation. Sombra gently put his hoof around her waist. She gave a tiny gasp.
“Here?” he asked, a smile playing around his lips.
“Y-yes,” Luna stuttered, blushing. _Stop it, Luna! _she shouted at herself.
“Then what?” he pressed.
“Uhh… Then we have to move our hooves in pairs, but we can go wherever we want.” She stepped back with her left hoof as Sombra moved his right one forward. Then vise versa. They started slowly, moving in gentle circles through the grass. The glowflies swirled around them, moving away from their synchronized hooves. Luna relaxed a bit as they danced in silence. Sombra adjusted his hoof around her waist and sped up, twirling her around him. He smiled down at her.
“Am I doing well?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.
“I thought you said you didn’t know how to dance,” she said, a little confused at how well he was dancing.
“Did I say that?” he asked, a very fake confused look on his face.
“Yeees,” she replied slowly.
“Oh. I probably just wanted an excuse for this.” He tightened his hoof around her waist and pulled her closer as they swung in another circle. Luna’s heart felt like it was doing backflips at this point. What is he up to? Why is he acting like this?! Why am _I acting like this?! Why am I feeling like this?!? _She continued arguing with herself for the next couple minutes as they danced.
“Shh,” Sombra instructed. “Just relax and enjoy the moment.” He opened his arms up slightly, inviting her. Luna hesitated. What if it’s a trick?……………But why _would it be a trick?_ She sighed. Enjoy the moment. She stepped a tiny bit closer. Sombra smiled. He pulled her up against him as they moved forward. She caught her breath at the closeness, his muzzle inches above her mane.
“Still uncomfortable?” he asked. She nodded, unable to speak. “Need some space?” Luna managed a tiny laugh.
“Shut up and dance.”

YAY! Finally got this one out. I know they both look really misshapen, but I mainly wanted to get this one out for the story, not so much the picture.
And, yes, this was partly inspired by the song “Shut up and Dance”. No mature content in that song for those who are wondering.
