Scintilla Aquila

While the far shot on Fluttershy in the last panel is wonderful and needs to be a reaction image, the second panel with the closeup on Fluttershy just making that face and not saying anything, and the third panel with the awkward dead space behind Fluttershy who’s going over the panel border (don’t characters who pop outside the border usually take up more of the panel?), are really jarring me out of the story. It might be less jarring if there were more objects in the background instead of just the blank mauve wall.

That’s something I very rarely find myself thinking about these comics. It makes me wonder, is that kind of blocking/layout consideration specified by the writer or by the artist?
Background Pony #340E
Who is the writer here? This Celeste Bronfman is a little too far into the naive world. The krakens can be good - or evil, they are after all legendary monsters of an incredible strength as seen in this comic where she managed to sweep Starswirl from the deck of the ship in just seconds - and very far away to the country where he ended up. Immediately. This is a comic meant for toddlers, so it gets a little too rosy and silly. At least the background story is far more interesting about the place where the kraken lived. And we got to see Luna and Celestia from the IDW comics as if S9 had not happened.
