Description

There are a lot of things to be said about wings. I have tried to make wings in the past, but while the challenge of getting them to look good has been considerable, the challenge of getting them to move and fold correctly has been beyond my abilities until just now. I have never even imagined a case where a more complicated rig could be needed than what now runs these wings. This time, however, I was able to learn from an example. Everyone who may want to know how to do such a thing should check out this crow blendermarket.com/products/sty…. I was able to slowly dissect the mountain of relationships between the many bones in the rig until I was able to place down a monstrous sixty-two bones per wing.
For those who may not know, to rig something in 3D means to give a 3D objects like a character a digital skeleton that can be used to tell the actual object how to move and flex. This render has flaws, but I am proud of these wings and how far I have come that I could create them.
There are still flaws in this piece, the fur on the face and the ears needs work, the feathers probably have too much subsurface scattering (the red colors) and possibly many other things, the wings are oversized, but I see no excuses to not be proud of this.
