Description

Growing up in a secluded, small town wasn’t easy for Tempest. Her parents owned a small workshop that got little to no attention, and following the death of her father, Tempest began hiding herself away from the other colts and fillies and only took comfort in her mother’s embrace. Her mother, once a kind and delicate mare, sunk into depression after the death of her late husband. Of course, she still made time for her only goal, but not even her own little filly could distract the mare from losing the love of her life.

Finally, Tempest’s mother temps her to make some friends at her school. The idea worries Tempest at first, but she soon grows comfortable with a small group of foals that led her into the woods while playing. Blinded by the urge to impress her new group, she ventures into a cave where she is attacked by an Ursa Minor, losing her horn and her friends. At this point, her mother had close to completely blocked her out of her life, and so Tempest runs off into the murky woods, where she had been told to avoid her whole life. However, at the time her mother had taken extra precautions to make sure her horn healed properly, so when she found that her filly never came home, she went into a frienzied panic. While search parties were scattered on every corner of the woods, Tempest Shadow was busy making her way to a place that would accept her.

Tired and hungry, Tempest comes across another small town filled with strange looking creatures, creatures that Tempest had never encountered before. They were rude, grumpy, and overall scary. Being, still, a kid, Tempest didn’t know how to decide who was good and who was bad. So, misinterpreting a bad creature for a good creature, being a moonicorn with fish in her diet, she decides to steal a whole, uncooked, salmon. She was caught and cornered by exactly five creatures, having to fend then of with the dangerous, electric sparks she was producing from her beyond repair horn. However, before the salmon could be taken away, The Storm King, leader of the town, comes seemingly from the shadows. The creatures immediately bow, and while one tries to explain why they were presuing a small, helpless filly, Storm King holds a hand up, taking in the fillies frame, ribs exposed, legs shaking, and coat and hair a dirty mess. From that moment on, Tempest would be taken in under the Storm Kings wing.

Until her early twenties, Tempest Shadow would go on to serve The Storm King, under the promise that her horn would be restored. Not to get confused, The Storm King really did love Tempest, like a daughter, but lied to her in fear of her leaving if she found out the truth. Tempest, as well, loved The Storm King like a father, but was heartbroken after she is told that her horn cannot be restored. She finally sees that what her father figure is doing is wrong, she sacrifices herself to stop him until Twilight restored her. Tempest would go on to humbly accept Twilights friendship, and is taught the lesson that only true friends will accept her for who you are. For the next few months, Tempest Shadow would go on to continue traveling, eventually ending up back at her old town, where she was presumed dead, and reunited with her mother who broke into tears at the sight of her daughter. At the end of her travels, she seeks Twilight once again, where through multiple hardships and training, was given the position of Twilights Royal Guard.

Still, there are some moments where Tempest would visit the Storm Kings statue in the Royal Garden. Though she was blinded by the evil he was doing, The Storm King was one of the only creatures that loved actually cared for and loved her.
