A tennis ball is a relatively simple model that they could make relatively quickly. The reason why the ball is the size X and Izzy is the size Y is because the ball of this size looks right on the horn. I find it most likely that the animators just scale objects relatively to each other based on concept art, not real-life measurements.

Sure, but not their definition of “foot”; Occam and all that, but they could still technically be pretty much any size.
I know what you’re referring to, and this is still way too big. They’re not little ponies and to objectively state that this is acceptable is heretical.

The name my LITTLE pony makes more sense now.
It’s like the ponies get smaller each generation. These ponies are not ponies, they are miniature horses, which are smaller than ponies. The G4 ponies were (according to various people’s calculations) 4ish feet tall at the top of the head, and these tiny, tiny things are half that height. So smol!

Same! I love analysis like this, even if I don’t necessarily believe it.
If I had to guess, the animators either didn’t think through the scaling, or thought it through, but abandoned it in favor of visual clarity. The ball is much more impactful and amusing at that size. I know Pixar does that kind of thing all the time. The balloon cluster in Up is way to small to lift a house, but they made it the right size, and you cold barely see the house in comparison. Artistic vision wins over physics.
