Yeah looks like his dad needed a friendship speech but for some reason i feel like he does have good intentions hes a abusive parent but he feels a bit more complex than the cozy glow abusive parent at least as far as i am which is this page at the moment

I think Vorak is disappointed with Tirek’s martial prowess and is concerned Tirek is relying on his magic to compensate for that.

looks like vorak is trying to say he needs tirek to be a strong leader, and the legion requres the best of the best. not that he doesn’t want tirek to command the legion. he doesn’t want him to join it.

He doesn’t seem to like magic much, which would be from the actual IDW comics. Also, he’s worried Tirek is power-hungry and will make for a bad leader. Probably accurately at that.

I’m not sure what Vorak even wants at this point.

Yea, the descriptions are great. Makes me wish we got to see more of Tirek’s home country and people.

Know this is fanon, but it is fascinating that Vorak described the country where his kingdom is located - “frozen tundra” in the north, which may be the ponies’ original home, we do not know much about where the minotaurs came from, it has never been explained in the show or the IDW comics - and the “barren wasteland” is probably the Nether Lands which may lie towards the continent where Equestria is located.
 
Here it should be said that the kingdom included not only the centaurs, but also the gargoyles and the cloud gremlins, this meant Vorak is king for several peoples rather than just one. A federal kingdom where Vorak probably has more than just one title, these existed in ancient Europe. The federation state model is confirmed as a canon from Equestria’s past, when the three pony tribes had merged into a loose confederation before the great frost.
 
From the IDW comics we know that the cloud gremlins are pranksters, dubious individuals who pretended to adopt emotional magic. Very little about the gargoyles, but they seemed to be warriors and workers who have such an important role in the kingdom, that Vorak married a gargoyle possibly for political reasons. The centaurs seemed to have an advisory role in addition to their strength that can put them in respect of the strong minotaurs. The only centaurs besides Vorak and Tirek in the IDW comics were a wizard and a court master.
 
This suggests a martial culture, as the cloud gremlins that can control the weather to some degree, have their magic based on negative emotions. The flying gargoyles, who appear to be hardy creatures that can survive in harsh environments, were bodyguards for the royal couple and the princes. And we know from Tirek itself that the cenaturs are aggressive and violent beings who do not get in the way of a real fight. Of course, Vorak pointed out here that his people were warriors against each other in different tribes before they gathered into one kingdom.
 
Now we just need to find out why the author here meant Tirek is not suitable for the Legion, once again we see how the father downgraded his son. Why is his son - a prince meant to take over the throne after him - not among the “best of the best”? Here it seems that Tirek does not fulfill the demands to become a strong leader.
 
It is now slipping away from the canon facts. But Vorak here does not realize - that by holding down his son, denying him opportunities and then raking him down because of his magic - he will only create a bitter enemy. It ended with Tirek rebelling, resisting his father and getting into a hostile relationship with him as seen in “Fiendship is Magic 2”.
 
Tirek probably escaped from house arrest and then learned how to extract magic from other magical creatures. We do not know what happened - the story was cut very abruptly, unfortunately - but since his brother was with him, and Discord’s remarks may indicate that the brothers had fled from King Vorak. The conquest of Equestria may be to become strong enough to take the throne from his father, and thus take revenge by showing that Vorak was wrong. Since Tirek still holds the title of prince, it is believed that the kingdom was not subject to him before the royal sisters banished him to Tartatus.

“Will you choose another over me? I will kill him before I see him take what’s mine.  
“If you choose still another, I’ll kill him, too. I’ve no reason to stay my hand here.  
“How many will I have to kill to prove my worth, Father?”

I find myself sympathizing with Tirek here.
