Starshade is a character I’ve royally messed up. She started as a nothing character with a weirdly violent disposition, and then she became something pretty vile in Larkspur’s life. It’s started to rub me all sorts of terrible ways (I think it’s a wise decision to steer clear of sexual assault in general?? Especially involving children?? ya know??), so she’s in need of a proper upgrade.
 
I think I’ve finally fixed her, and it just so happens that she works better as a boy:
 
His name was Flash, and he was Larkspur’s first best friend (that wasn’t family) and his first serious crush.
 
After Discord left, Lark was a changed child. He was insecure, anxious, bitter, and would lash out at the slightest threat. He didn’t sing anymore. He didn’t dance. And he didn’t even think about being a knight. Not only because he lost contact with his cousins Brick and Bastion for reasons also out of his control, but he simply lost interest in everything.
 
Then he met Flash; a strong, self-confident colt with a feisty personality that stood up to adults without fear. Flash too had daddy issues + his personality made him a social outcast and the two quickly bonded over this. Larkspur found in Flash everything he had lost; a companion and a big brother of sorts that could protect and guide him. Larkspur dreamed of a life with Flash.
 
But to Flash, being gay was one of the worst things a colt could be.
 
(if you have any ideas about this, let me know! I just know that this is a better fit for Larkspur’s arc altogether, as well as Starshade/Flash’s. Oh, and no, Flash will not be secretly gay cuz that’s honestly a pretty harmful stereotype.)
