this fluffy ball of smoke is summer or smokey orchard. son of zephyr and big macintosh.
 
around the time of spitfire’s and flutter’s marriage, zephyr felt the need to get some company, and during the reception he happened to meet an old ex of flutters and figures ‘why the fuck not?’ and some time later came a toxic relationship based on a cycle of manipulation, lies and abandonment. big mac is a kind and gentle soul and is one of few words, so it was easy for zephyr to get to him quickly. they dated for about a year, a year spent lying to each other. a year of lying to themselves.
 
 
when mac came up pregnant, zephyr…left. he was long gone, every attempt to find him was met at a loss. mac said he’d wait, zephyr was gonna come back. he always did. and even after summer was born, he still waited. even three years later, he waited. and when zephyr was revealed, it turned out he had been avoiding his family to ‘figure himself out’ only to also reveal that he’d been sorta doing what the equivalent was of being married to treehugger, more specifically, an open marriage which seemed to fit the two as they did have a physical and emotional connection, both weren’t too okay with being tied down with such a traditional thing known as marriage and it turned out they’d had several kids and a few flings and were indeed living with each other running a somewhat successful therapy business.
 

 
now that we know summer’s upbringings. we can know more about him specifically. summer grew up rather distant from his father. he found his father’s pining and faith to his toxic partner rather tiring and annoying. it was often when a holiday was spent with big mac watching the window or waiting by the door like a puppy, giving half answers as to why he still held out. summer just didn’t care anymore once he turned about eight.
 
the guy wasn’t big on being there to support his dad anymore if he was going to just ignore him, so summer gave up on his dad.
 
 
summer went to the local school but was often too lazy to show up. despite that, summer would pick up a bit of a nasty reputation for selling some…less than allowed substances at that school. his candle making abilitiy seemed to also extend to other smoking items, such as cigarettes and pipes. often, he would sell his creations by calling it a grand item made from the hundred year old apple trees themself.
 
needless to say, there would be several incidents of summer getting suspended and him guilt tripping his cousin into selling it for him.
 

 
after a … major incident. that lead to summer get cut off by aelin and most of his family on that side of things, and getting kicked out from school. which left a mark on his career but he didn’t care, he still made bank with all these things he made what was he to care? plus, if his dad didn’t care why should he?
 

 
 
summer is a careless, selfish stallion with a pension for mischief and trouble. but in truth, is very sad and yearning for any kind of attention from his family and father. and when he was shunned by his closest family member, his cousin aelin, and ridiculed by those who’ve pegged him for his actions he chose to ignore whatever critism comes his way, in favor of latching to his friends who claim to care about him and encourage his bad behavior.
