It’s interesting just how subtle it is. It’s even hard to tell just where the height is coming from. You can see a touch in her legs as well as her neck. It’s a mark of good art that it’s really only noticeable when you’re looking for it.
 
Of course, with all her royal crap on, she looks a bit “fuller”. And admittedly, without it she’s the tiniest bit lanky looking.

You can see how thick those are, and that’s assuming that’s all “metal” (or whatever they are). Even then, that’s not enough to make up the entire height difference.

I went back to Canterlot Wedding (when Twilight runs up to yell at Shining) and the same height difference is there. I pulled from Games to have the “most recent” just in case the artists included some growth between.
 
But irregardless, Twi’s looking up at Shining in e12. She doesn’t have to do that in alicorn form.

To be fair, the screenshot from e12 is in perspective, so she’s probably shorter than normal.
 
But yes, she’s grown a little.  
Her horn is also bigger.
