No, I mean she could just keep casting the spell Celestia gave her (which randomized cutie marks), until the random outcome was the right one.

Pretty sure Magic doesn’t work that way. If there isn’t a spell now you need a new one or nothing works. I seriously doubt a drain cleaner or butterfly wing spell will fix it.
 
If the spells are truly random you might say crush one of them to death with an anvil so that is something, not helpful for getting their Cutimark back but something.

She could have just keep casting the randomize spell until she got everything back to normal, it might have taken a day or two but the outcome would eventually have to be right.

I think Celestia knew exactly what the unfinished spell did and gave it to Twilight knowing it would ruin her friends if she could not come up with the counter spell that didn’t exist at the time.

Uh…you know, when she finished the spell, it caused The Elements of Harmony to send her to that void that Celestia quickly poofed into.
 
Don’t think his great masterpiece was to fix cutiemarks, but what your destiny is. When Twilight got there, Celestia knew she had completed her destiny.
