Shocked we didn’t get that as well. We got one teacher I believe back in the 5th that if you got up for the bell you would get detention.

This is the truth! Everytime we all get up as soon as the bell rings trying too get outta that damn place XD an of course the teacher just had too say that.
We got the slight variation “Waaaaaaaait a minute! That bell’s for me, NOT for you!”

In my middle/high school, the teachers were required to take attendance for EVERY class so if you showed up for first period, skipped second and showed up for third, the school administration would mark you as absent for the entire day. This was on top of school/government policy (the teachers didn’t quite know either) where if you were absent for too many days without a doctor’s note, you were automatically held back a year.
Parents forged a LOT of doctor’s notes but kids with ‘family issues’ and/or prone to sickness? They were either treated like lepers, made ‘arrangements’ with all their teachers and/or flat-out dropped out of school by third semester.
Agreed.
Really? Wow, okay that is a bit harsh.

“Hello?”
“Why aren’t you in class?”
“You dismissed me. You never said to come back.”
OOOOF! Sick burn! XD
