I want to believe this but this has never been shown in any other skeletons seen in the show or other media.

Because the show raised the franchise bar for explaining such fans expect better. If it is magic it’s expected to be explained as such in-work. Fans have unrealistic expectations for a show driven by its characters as opposed to world building or consistent/balanced magical systems/power levels. It only did the latter two, and oft compromised it, when it served the former.

also, why cant anyone just accept magic in their hooves in a show where they do other impossible things via magic?
