See, I can buy Maud as coming across as a ‘came outta nowhere’ because of the flashback to Pinkie’s first party, but not Zephyr/Shining. This is a series that focuses on Ponyville and the Mane 6. I mean, it took about 6 seasons just to know what the parents of all 6 of them looked like, because they’re not the focus of the show. So why is it “outta nowhere” if they have a sibling we don’t know about just because they weren’t mentioned? Up until the episode with Zephyr did we even know if Fluttershy’s parents were alive?

Not saying that is isn’t convenient narratively to have a sibling suddenly mentioned, but we’re never going to be privy to everything about a characters life. For Twilight especially I can see her not focusing on her family because she’s busy studying and learning, so she only thinks to mention him when she receives the wedding invitation. I just think it falls under “You didn’t ask.”

The name Octavio is a Spanish name derived from Octavius, a name from Ancient Rome meaning “eighth”.

It is because he was around long enough to make work while also only in about 20 episodes through the series so he was unobtrusive enough to be liked. And like most characters, fanart, fanfics, and fanon brought people to like him.

There is almost no porn of anything from Pony Life. Most fans just don’t care about this show.
