i never actually draw cutie marks,but for the most part theyre there im just mega lazy.  
mint watched as each of their siblings and cousins got their cutie mark in turn, and as they watched their excitement around their own grew: what would it possibly be? what would they grow up to be? it could be anything! they were so excited!
 
but, as they reached the age when most foals got their cutie mark, nothing came. rarity assured them theyre simply a late bloomer, and its nothing to be ashamed of, but… time went on… and they were well into their late teens-early adulthood, still without a cutiemark, and no sign of it coming soon.
 
they put up a facade of not caring, but its a major factor in their feeling of inadequacy/loneliness. they cover it up with their sarcastic smug attitude, but ask them about their cutie mark on stream and you’ll get something like the last sketch:
