the episode didn’t say anything about being inappropriate
On fan content? Yeah sure.
On official Hasbro-owned content? Heck no, we’re terrible people.
Still, the reason this is a big thing now is because in 2019 the US FTC issued a huge fine to YouTube for breaking the COPPA act. This marked a pretty big shift in how the FTC enforces laws related to COPPA. As part of the settlement they mandated that YouTube change its policies on how it stores data for people under 13. This included protecting privacy rights for children by disabling comments on children-related content. I guess if you wanna blame anyone, blame the FTC.
OK fine. I’d still like to be able to fucking comment on pony videos on YouTube.
I entered the stream a few minutes ago, so I could be (and hope I am) wrong.

My Little Pony earns hundreds of millions of dollars annually for Hasbro. I guarantee to you that bronies are not spending hundreds of millions of dollars per year on Hasbro-licensed merchandise and show syndication.
Bronies make up a disproportionately high amount of online discussion of My Little Pony, but that does not translate to IRL purchases. It may or may not shock you to find out that kids are still the primary consumers of toy products.
This show, has, is, and always will be for children. There has always been a adult fandom for MLP, and they’ve always been the minority. Just because you hang around the adults doesn’t mean the kids don’t watch. The brony fandom has shrunken a lot too.

as the Kirin episode explained, shutting people up to avoid conflict or negativity is often not a good idea.
My main issue is having legendary mlp videos in the Fandom having their d semi-historic comment sections simply removed because yt thought they were strictly kid videos.
Honestly this.
People on the internet are hella toxic, and I’m saying that as a person on the internet.
We all know it to be true.
All kid related content on YT have disabled comments.
Also do you honestly trust this fandom or the internet at large to be appropriate in the comments?
Content for kids = No comments even on live :D
What’s the point of the fucking stream then?
